It has been said that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I can agree with that, because what one person finds beautiful or admirable may not appeal to another.
This post is about seeing your beauty through your eyes. When you look in the mirror, do you see the beauty or handsomeness in yourself?
Once many years ago during an outing with my family I complimented my aunt on how pretty she looked, her response was hilarious to me. She said, "my mirror told me the same thing". I think it is safe to say she did not lack self-esteem.
But, beauty is about being yourself, authentic. Beauty is not just about your exterior qualities, because over time those things will change. Examples: Hair, Make up ~ it accentuates the beauty that already exist. Clothes ~ can make you attractive or appealing but not beautiful.
No, inner beauty is key. Inner beauty, includes self-esteem and confidence. It is those inner qualities that radiate strength, passion and conviction.
Important attributes of inner beauty are Self-love and Self-care. These are intentional actions toward ones-self.
There may be those who are insecure and afraid of what other people will think about them based on their outer beauty. But we must always remember that beauty can be many things; but true beauty comes from within.
The bible reference inner beauty in several passages.
~ Peter 3:3-4 advises women not to focus on their external appearance, such as hair, jewelry, or clothes. But encourages them to cultivate their inner beauty, which is a gentle and quiet spirit that is precious to God.
~ Proverbs 27:19 makes this comparison, as water reflects the face, so does oneās life reflects their heart.
Please, don't misunderstand what I'm saying beauty is important for various reasons. It helps people to feel good about themselves, improve their quality of life, motivate people to achieve their dreams and aspirations. As well as gain confidence and happiness.
In conclusion remember beauty is only skin deep. What's really important is finding a balance of mind, body and spirit.
